Starting on 20/4 is by far the latest start I can remember without digging out the records. What was really good is that we were in profit after the second day, though we faulted on the third day the largest overnight loss to the bank was only £100 to £50 stakes making it a stress free start to the season. We are approximately +£800 again to £50 stakes which is of course a long way behind last year, but in view of the weather we can’t complain, well we can, but it will do no good. Unfortunately the rain continues to fall and to get Clerks of the courses to admit in advance that the ground is heavy you’d have to subject them to a Polygraph test.
I try to avoid meetings with the word heavy in the going description as I did at the recent Salisbury two day meeting, we would have won on the first day but losses on the second day made it an overall loss at the meeting, so we saved money.
If the weather improves I am hopeful we can still achieve somewhere near the profit levels of previous years.
To those that follow the Pro Punter thread, Saturday was a poor day and is now showing a small loss to e/w stakes but reverses that to level win stakes.
We will have a busy week with him next week as hopefully we get to follow him all week.
Whatever you do always err on the side caution, only bet with cash you can afford to lose and keep in mind a bad run is only around the corner, but always keep the faith. Good Luck
