Wolverhampton 8-00 Handicap (Class 4) 12f
HAALAND rates clear top on the clock for this seven-runner Class 4 handicap, courtesy of his easily victory over this trip at Southwell three weeks ago.
Successful over ten furlongs at Lingfield on his previous outing, the gelding is clear firing on all cylinders at present, and there seems little reason why he shouldn't be every bit as effective around the turns at Wolverhampton.
Granted, he is up a couple of notches in class here, but the numbers say he can make it a hat-trick of straight wins.
Chalked up at 5-1 with William Hill at the time of writing, those odds look like value to this particular pundit.
Hereford 1-15 Novices Hurdle (Class 4) 22f
HAURAKI GULF has been off the track for almost a year, but did manage to post a top figure of 94 when just denied at Warwick in February of 2022. Likely to encounter similar conditions today, it will come as no surprise if this 8yo gelding goes well on his return, especially as this extra yardage is sure to work to his advantage.
Hereford 2-25 Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f
MILTIADES went close on his return at Catterick earlier in the month, while at the same time managing to generate a top figure of 84. The form of that race has been franked since too, with the third horse home running almost as fast when finishing fourth at Kelso next time out. Back up a notch in class today, it might not be enough to stop the selection from getting off the mark over hurdles at the seventh time of asking.
Hereford 3-00 Handicap Chase (Class 3) 21f
UPTON ROAD (nb) hinted at better things to come over fences when chasing home Sheldon at Exeter four weeks ago, a performance that also saw him register a list-dominant speed rating of 101. Back up a notch in class today, granted, but the selection has enough forward momentum and scope for improvement in this sphere. Pencilled in odds of 13-2 are another reason to look to get involved.
Huntingdon 4-00 Handicap Chase (Class 5) 24f
LARGY NIGHTS has been knocking at the door of late, with his last time out second over this course and distance translating into a top figure of 77. Remaining at Class 5 level today, and with tick in the important boxes marked track, trip and ground, all looks set for this 9yo gelding to get back to winning ways.
Plumpton 3-15 Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 25f
REVASSER found his racing feet at Fakenham earlier in the month, with his staying on fourth to Allo Allo translating into a career-best figure of 91. Back up a notch in class today, the gelding's task has been made that bit harder, but all else looks to be in place for another improved effort. A 13-2 shot with William Hill at the time of writing, those odds or bigger should be taken.
