The bad run is the bane of all punters, and we get one most seasons. I’ve wrote many articles on the subject on various sites we've had over the years and I'm still no wiser.
The point you make about avoiding certain racecourses is something I did, but in normal conditions not any of the ones you mention, though I’ve noticed that in recent years Beverley does appear not to be the money spinner it once was. They have done work on the course to negate the draw that could be the cause or could be a temporary blip. I remember Southwell aw was money spinner and then got washed away by floods when it was rebuilt it was never the same.
Some I would miss depending on the going.
If you recall on the arkleracingclub site I had records going back 15 years with graphs and these were gold (though no one accessed them) during a bad run it was good to see the trends we had in the past.
Part of the records was an in depth pivot table with all the years combined, this included every fact I could think of. This included not only the going but also if the course had been watered.
Watered courses could be a disaster, I recall at one time Ripon it was impossible to win on the stand side, but things change.
Since we haven’t had a lot of rain this may be effecting your selections, we always did best in average weather conditions, not too wet or dry.
The modern sprinkler systems are very sophisticated and they can put water where they want it, if the course favours low numbers they put more water on the inside, goodbye bias. On the AW they effect by the depth they rake it, either way no one tells us.
No matter what formulas I used we still had bad runs but we usually manage to turn it around and get the percentages back on track.
Always a difficult decision whether to change things or to keep the faith but only you can make it.
Hi everyone. I hope you are all well and inning lots.
I’m looking for help and advice as I feel I must be doing something wrong.
I appreciate that everyone has good runs and bad runs, like we have had on here previously. But I have lost in the last 2 weeks what I won after a very good start.
The main thing is, when we used to get anything from no selections to say eight a day, I am getting anything up to fifteen selections.
My criteria are,
Class 5 and 6 handicap only.
The top rated horse
Be able to place a bet 7/2 or better.
And that’s about it.
Is there anything else?
I am looking at de selecting some courses because of results I’ve had over the last 2 seasons.
