It’s a lot easier than I thought we just need to follow the shining example set by the right honourable gentleman Phillip Davies Conservative MP for Shipley.
I must thank Phillip for his outstanding efforts on the behalf of punters everywhere and being the first to my knowledge to have restrictions lifted.
Apparently Phillip was operating as we call in the game an each-way thief, I won’t go into detail as I’m sure you’re familiar with the term.
In 2006 Ladbrokes got wise to him and imposed restrictions on his account, he simply contacted a director of Ladbrokes explaining the error of their ways, after the usual nod and a wink, a shake of the hands and slap on the back the situation was resolved, no more restrictions.
As a sign of remorse Ladbrokes have since given him free tickets to Royal Ascot and many other hospitality concessions.
Looking forward to Paddy Power sending me Royal Ascot tickets, see you there Darkhorse.
Phillip now has a better understanding of the plight of poor bookmakers and in response without reward he has been a tireless campaigner on behalf of the unfairly treated gambling industry.
In 2012 he called for tax cuts for bookmakers.
2013 he ridiculed restrictions on gambling advertising.
2014 He criticized greater regulation of fixed-odds machines. He wisely pointed out that high street bookmakers were little different from coffee shops (that only serves mugs) and said that betting on fobt’s helped people to enjoy their lives more and improved their memory, concentration and hand-to-eye co-ordination.
Mr Davies was rebuked by the parliamentary standards commissioner for failing to declare hospitality from Ladbrokes and Betfred while he was a member of the culture and media select committee that reviewed gambling legislation.
Mr Davies apologised for the oversight and memory loss.
If fobt’s were more available in public and in the House of Commons, MP’s could play them on a regular basis to improve their memories; this would help them with remembering disclosure and avoid errors when filling out expense forms.
Thanks Phillip for pointing out the benefits to be gained from these machines, on your advice I’m thinking of buying one for my grandchildren.
Just give the bookies a ring and hey presto restrictions are gone.
